Story
Hey Friends :)
Those of you who know me well know that I have had my fair share of ups and downs, and that mental health has been an ongoing struggle. Losing my dad in a car accident was not on my 2024 bingo card, and I watched as my mental health slipped further and further out of my control when grief took the reins, yet again.
Throughout the whole ordeal of Dad's accident, Victim Support was behind the scenes helping us make sense of the process, offering financial assistance, preparing us for court, and generally providing a caring presence during a really confusing and hopeless time.
With the help of Victim Support, I am now accessing the therapy I have desperately needed for the last 17 years. For the first time in almost two decades, I feel a sense of hope that, just maybe, I will arrive at a place of peace and acceptance on my grief journey.
I used to write, but it just became too hard. Wanting to write again has been an early indicator that things are changing in my brain, so in celebration of that I am setting myself a challenge for the month of April. Everyday I will write and share a heartfelt poem on my Facebook page.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to Victim Support.
Thanks so much for your support!
Leonie
